January Week Three:
Get this event approved by your principal.
Contact
Jaime Parker, Oklahoma City Memorial Kids Marathon Race Director,
(OKCKIDSMARATHON@GMAIL.COM) to speak at your school kickoff assembly.
Present
the event at faculty meeting. Pass out the FACULTY HANDOUT explaining
why your school should participate. This outlines levels of
participation for teachers as well.
January Week Four:
Send home
INTRODUCTORY LETTER.
Talk to the students about this event and
encourage them to sign up online after talking to their parents. If
they do not have internet access at home to sign up, have them fill out
a paper copy of the registration form downloaded off the website and
then a school adult can enter them online. BE SURE TO DESIGNATE WHICH
SCHOOL THEY ARE PARTICIPATING WITH! Ask the students to let your school
POC know that they are participating and signed up at home without you
knowing; this is very important to keep accurate records.
If parents
have indicated that they are participating, add them into the
spreadsheet. ADULTS DO NOT COUNT TOWARD PERCENTAGE FOR THE TROPHY AND
PRIZE MONEY. Mark them as paid if they have paid and want a shirt and
medal. Note “just walking” in the Registration column if they are not
registering, and mark N/A in the “paid” column if they are not paying,
just walking. Make sure teachers know that they need to let you know if
they are participating, whether they are paying and getting a
shirt/medal or if they are just walking with the kids. Add them to the
spreadsheet in the same way you added the parents.
Start a
SPREADSHEET to keep track of participants and paperwork.
